With height of (6,204m/20,350ft), Mount Genyen is located in Lithang, western Sichuan. It is the third highest mountain in Sichuan and it is surrounded by over 30 peaks exceeding 5,000m/16,400ft ASL. It is regarded as the 13th most holy mountain amongst the 24 holy mountains of Tibetan Buddhism. Karmap Dusum Khyenpa (1110-93); the founder of the Kagyu sect, chose his hermitage cave in the Shambala Valley. He later went on to found the Neygong Monastery at the same site. Mount Genyen and the Shambala Valley are also considered to be sacred pilgrimage sites of the Dharma deity, Dangchoup.
The diversity of wildlife and geography also enrich Mount Genye, the rough road keeps away the pampered tourists.

Day1 Arrive Kunming
Fly to Kunming, the evergreen city, capital of Yunnan Province and check into hotel.
Enjoy authentic local food after trip orientation in a local tea house by the Green Lake.

Day 2 Kunming to Gyalthang
Take short morning flight to Gyalthang (Zhongdian in Chinese, now renamed as Shangri-la). Have a leisure afternoon with a visit to Songtsam Monastery and the old town of Gyalthang.

Day 3 Gyalthang to Xiangcheng
Depart Gyalthang, 8 hours driving for Xiangcheng. En route, stop by the valleys, alpine lakes & the mountain range to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the highland and alpine lakes.
After lunch in Derong, keep on driving to Xiangcheng.

Day 4 Xiangcheng to Dongju Stupa
4 hours drive to Dongju village where Tibetan villages located by the riverside of Rada valley. We will meet our yak caravan at Dongju Stupa where we camp for acclimatization for the afternoon and prepare all needs of our trek.
Time permits, we will take some excursion for warm up today.
Day 5 Dongju Stupa to Dranay Beko
Today, we hike into Dongju valley, which is covered with pristine virgin forest. In the afternoon, we ascend out of the Rada valley with change of scenery, from pine forest to rhododendron to alpine pastureland. We will camp at Dranay Beko with a beautiful pastureland frequently herd on by Tibetan nomads.
Today, the hike is about 6-7 hours.
Day 6 Dranay to Pomlung Yalithang
Today, we will conquer mountain pass Neiyku la which is 4,646m/15,240ft high. The ascending is really breathtaking. Once we get on the pass, the vista of valley, snow mountain is unbelievable beautiful. Then we descend to Pomlung Yalithang where we camp for the night.
We hike about 5-6 hours today.
Day 7 Pomlung Yalithang to Jiralatsa
Weather permitting, the summit of Genyen will show to us when we are at the pass of Shinala (4,720m/15,480ft). In summer time, the nomad might herd around Jiralatsa.
We enjoy the peaceful evening today.
Day 8 Jiralatsa to Tsonaka
We hike 3 hours to conquer Pamsi La (4,870m/15,980) where will present you the best gift on this trek-- the stunning scenery around Mt. Genye.
Over the mountain pass, we descend to a valley and camp there.
Day 9 Rest Day
After a whole day of strenuous trek, we take a day for relaxation at the campsite. The tranquil and beautiful circumstance ought to be one of the days you can never forget. For fit clients, could explore around the valley and mountains around, or even the glaciers and alpines lakes around.
Day 10 Tsonaka to Rati Jakathang
Uphill always followed downhill. Since we have a day for rest, today, we head for the second highest pass Meipu-la (4,840m/15,880ft). And descend towards the valley below the Genyen peaks. Today, we will get more and more closed to Genye Mt. with our steps approaching.
We hike 7- 8 hours hiking for the day.
Day 11 Rati Jakathang to Trasongshig
5 hours downstream along the valley, we walk through pristine forest and green meadow with flowers below the majestic Genyen peak. Visit nomad family at Trasong Shig and camp.
Day 12 Trasong Shig to Tsokou
Hike to Tsokou valley and Nygong monastery, which is hidden deep in the valley. The monastery was built by the first Kamapa a thousand years ago and is one of the most scared monasteries for Tibetans.
Day 13 Tsokou to Shutak
Head to Shutak along the valley and then the holy lake. Visit meditation cave for hermits.
Today, we hike 6-7 hours.
Day14 Rest Day
Take another day for rest, explore around the campsite.
Day15 Shutak to Thapathang
Head back all the way to Thapathang. The hike will be easy and smooth, along the stream going out of valley.
Day16 Thapathang to Woerkarthang
Pass through Liakatho, an old Tibetan village.
We hike 6-7 hours along the river.
Day 17 Woerkarthang to Donla to Lithang
Walk to the Donla village and then we will drive 80kms/4hrs on dirty road to Lithang.

Lithang boasts to be the highest mountain on earth with altitude 4,014m/13,170ft and it is the home town of 7th and10th Dalai Lama and other dozen living Buddha. It has Jamachoe Chokorling Monastery which is the largest monastery of Gelukpa Sect in Kham.
Visit Jamchoe Chokorling monastery and explore the city around.

Day19 Lithang to Dartsedo
Drive 6-8 hours to Dartsedo (Kangding in Chinese) from Lithang. On the way we will visit Xinduqiao and pass Tsedo Mountain, where we could see Yala Mountain on our left hand.
Dartsedo has played a key role in the history of Tea-Horse Caravan and outdoor for ancient Tibet to reach the Middle Kingdom.

Day20 Dartsedo to Chengdu
Drive out of Dartsedo along Dadu River till take a stop at Luding Iron Bridge where the Red Army won against Kuomingtang (KMT) army and the battle has been regarded as one of the turning point battle in the history of China.
After through Erlangshan Channel, we drive to Chengdu Basin Flat gradually.
Arrive Chengdu in later afternoon and enjoy authentic delicious Sichuan dinner.

Drive to the airport and take your flight departing Chengdu.
